Danville – John “Joe” Miller, 96, died Saturday April 13, 2024 at Danbury Senior Living in Mount Vernon.
Joe was the youngest of six children of Mark and Mary (Colopy) Miller. He was born in Howard Township on September 21, 1927. In 1946, he married Eileen Raasch in Texarkana, Texas. He retired from Cooper Bessemer in 1990 after 40 years of service. He was a member of the St. Luke Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus in Danville.
Joe is survived by his children, Keith (Barb) Miller of Danville, Rebecca (George) Brownfield of Millwood, and Greg (Beverly) Miller of Howard; a daughter-in-law, Carole Miller of Mount Vernon; five grandchildren, Melissa (Shawn) Moreland, and Robert (Kristen) Miller both of Howard, Luke Miller of New York, John (Rachel) Miller of Butler, and Sarah (Grant) Durbin of Danville; eleven great grandchildren, Blake, Brant, and Brice Moreland, Kaylin, Taylor, and Payton Miller, and Hannah, Zoanne, Case, and Parker Durbin, and Iris Miller; one great-great grandchild, Ace; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Eileen in 2017; his son, Lynn J. Miller in 2012; four sisters, Olive, Frances, Louise, and Virginia; a brother, Charles; and brother and sister- in-law, Clifford and Margaret Raasch.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, April 19, at the St. Luke Church. Father Homer Blubaugh will officiate, with interment following in St. Luke Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10- 11:15.
