DANVILLE- Anita Sue (Spearman) Hollis, 81, died Thursday, April 11, 2024 at Knox Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon.
She was born Feb. 26, 1943 in Danville to the late Robert and Edna (Smith) Spearman. She was a 1961 graduate of Danville High School, and a member of St. Luke Catholic Church.
Anita spent much of her career at Rockwell International, and retired from the Federal Government working for the Ohio National Guard. She was a wonderful seamstress, and an avid gardener, with a special green thumb for African violets. She was a lover of all animals, and took care of many pets over the years. She also really loved to dance. Nothing got her up and out of her chair quicker than "Old Time Rock &Roll"!
She is survived by her son, Keith (Laura) Hollis of Texas; daughter, Kelly Hollis (Michael Bullard) of Upper Arlington; grandson, Jacob Hollis of Texas; a sister, Carol Durbin of Danville; a brother James Spearman of Mt. Vernon; special nephews, Tyler and Josh Spearman of Mt Vernon; and her cat, "Annie Mae".
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Richard "Rick" Spearman.
A Memorial Mass will take place 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at St. Luke Catholic Church in Danville, with Father Homer Blubaugh officiating. Burial will follow at St. Luke Cemetery.
