John L. Ridenbaugh

U.S. Veteran

GAMBIER- John Lewis Ridenbaugh, 89, of Colwill Rd., died Friday Feb. 15, 2013 at the Knox Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

He was born May 18, 1923 in Coshocton Co. to the late J.A. “Burt” and Mary (Hoberg) Ridenbaugh. He was a 1941 graduate of Warsaw High School, and served in the US Army Air Corp from 1943-1946. He worked at the former Continental Can Company for over 40 years, in addition to being a farmer, carpenter, and an employee of Glenn Hill Orchards. He also enjoyed golfing and bowling.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Norma (Ling) Ridenbaugh of Gambier, whom he married on June 1, 1946. Also surviving are three sons; James (Linda) Ridenbaugh of Stow, Richard (Anita) Ridenbaugh of Lakeland, FL, and Eugene (Georgia) Ridenbaugh of Gambier, five grandchildren; Autumn (William) Hyder, Shelley (Paul) Amstutz, Adam (Jeany) Ridenbaugh, Dustin Ridenbaugh, and Zachary (Elizabeth)Ridenbaugh, eight great-grandchildren, and two brothers; Dale E. Ridenbaugh of Millersburg, and Joseph L. (Margaret) Ridenbaugh of Walhonding.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie Corder, and a brother, Arthur “Dutch” Ridenbaugh.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday Feb. 18, 2013 at Valley Cemetery in Monroe Twp, with graveside military rites performed by the Knox Co. Joint Veterans Council and Pastor Ron Davis officiating. The Fischer Funeral Home in Danville is handling arrangements. www.fischerfuneralhome.com
